Who We Are
We are a teacher-driven, student-centered, cooperative yoga movement.
TEACHER DRIVEN - We provide a community for yoga teachers to cultivate authentic voice and share their practice with playfulness, freedom and strength. Our teachers have diverse training backgrounds and are welcomed to honor the lineage they’ve studied.
STUDENT CENTERED - We create a welcoming and inclusive space for yogis of all stages to discover and deepen their practice. We offer support and guidance for students to discover and learn at whatever pace they want: making both rest and challenge available in class.
We think the best way to know what students want is to ask them. We actively seek student input when making studio decisions.
CO-OP INSPIRED - We believe a yoga community thrives when those investing time and effort in creating that community see the benefit of success. Staff compensation guarantees a fair base wage, and offers class-volume based bonuses, as well as the opportunity to become vested in studio profits. Our business model is carefully constructed and not cut-and-paste from the profit-driven studio model.
Our Values
We believe that yoga is a powerful tool for cutting through the noise of life and clearing space to connect with yourself.
We don’t think there’s just one right way to do anything. Honoring your body looks different for every person, every day and isn’t off-limits to anyone.
The following values guide our studio:
PRESENCE - We seek to be fully present with ourselves and each other as the foundation of our community. The pursuit of the now is the heart of yoga.
AUTHENTICITY - We commit to accepting ourselves and each other as we are, without judgment, celebrating and using our unique voices and talents as part of a beautiful whole.
STABILITY - We resist the urge to take shortcuts, prioritizing the work of building strength and learning alignment before attempting creation of …. a pose, a class, a workshop, an event…
INTEGRATION - We cultivate all 8 limbs of the practice of yoga, which enrich and play off of one another: Yama (ethical standards), 2) Niyama (personal observances), 3) Asana (physical postures), 4) Pranayama (breath control), 5) Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), 6) Dharana (concentration), 7) Dhyana (meditation), and 8) Samadhi (absorption or union with the divine).
GENEROSITY - We view the practice and our community as gifts to be shared. We create opportunity for the under-resourced to participate in our community without stigma.
